Do you live near a station with a common name ?

G'day all,

Here I would like to start a new thread, (may even be interesting ), regarding stations of the same name from around the globe. I'm sure we have plenty of members who have travelled across their homelands and photographed many stations, whether they be old pics or new, redundant, retired or ripped up lines/branchlines, whatever. For example, I live in Padstow, NSW, Australia and I could post a pic of my local station, Padstow, in which another member can post a pic of Padstow, UK… After a match or two, we just change stations, but bare in mind that another station of that name must exist, somewhere !

This will also become a great reference/source of stations across the world.

Please respect Copyright laws and do not copy or scan photos from books. The pic must be of your own doing.

I will start off with a picture of Exeter, situated in New South Wales Southern Highlands.

Cheers, Gary.

I live in Melton Victoria, in fact in Melton South within a stones throw from the station… there is a Melton in South Australia that also had a railway station that AFAIK was only ever a signpost and a siding.  I presume it was also named after an English location.
I was at Richmond here in Victoria earlier today and again AFAIK this is the only name that is repeated in all six Australian states. I have also been to Richmond in California and Virginia and it probably is quite a common name too. Hamilton comes up three times in Australia as major areas and a minor one.
I guess it would be an interesting exercise to have photos of all the locations. The station in Exeter SA was a very narrow platform on a street railway closed in 1978… unlike its name sake. I have also been to Exeter in Ontario…
so what is the most frequent name we can find…??? Preferably complete with Railway station…!!!!

Regards
Trevor

There is a Waterloo station in Freetown Sierra Leone, in fact the community is now known as Waterloo. The station is now disused.

I wonder if the original "Waterloo" in Belgium has a railway station …………..:roll:

Next time I go up there to catch my ferry, I'll make a detour if I have time ……….:cheers

My money is on Newport, if you include Neiuport as well. The trouble with Exeter is that ( in England anyway) there are 3 that are not just Exeter :mutley.
