An unexpected surprise. 44932 was waiting on the Down Main at Shrewsbury today waiting for the road.

Very nice piece of kit. The Black 5 is a lovely looking engine. Very similar to our NSWGR 36 Class down under.

Cheers, Gary.

Some nice detail there as well David. Great stuff. I have always liked that locomotive but never did get round to buying one as a model.

From the 'official' end of steam on the Western Region at the beginning of 1966, till the end of the summer timetable that year (September), inter-regional trains were steam hauled direct from the LMR to the Southern Region, mostly Black 5's from Oxley, Tyseley or Banbury. Bournemouth crews tried their hardest to get their hands on a Black 5 to haul the Waterloo trains instead of their normal motive power, such was their regard for Staniers masterpiece.
