Yep, best say cats rather than pets, I'd hate to think what would happen if our Merlin (avatar) should try to get up on my layout - all 12 stone of him.:shock:

We have 3 cats and one of them never, ever sits on your lap …………………..until you read a newspaper !!!  Then, he seems to sense which paragraph you're reading and plonks himself firmly on top of it !!! :twisted::twisted:

At least your Charlie isn't sitting on any fixed track Gary ………..:roll::roll:  Try him on some DCC track and see if his eyes light up

Pump a few more volt's thru the track first!!    Zap, Meooooooooowwwwww

I have heard that a Relco can deter cats somewhat, shocking really - but effective, shades of cat on a hot tin roof!! Also rumoured to work well on slugs and snails on outdoor layouts.

The trouble with cats is that they have attitude. Every cat I have ever had has always treated me as a lodger in my own house.

I have two cats with a similar attitude, the only thing that puts them in their place is Martha my African grey parrot,my can that beak can cause damage

A couple of those tracks are fixed, maybe I should of hooked up a transformer…

I used to have a cat that would wait until I was eating spaghetti. It would then sit on the sofa behind my head and then without warning, a paw would come around (with claws out) and make a grab for the spaghetti as I put it in my mouth.
Certainly made me chuckle

That's about right Jeff. They also like walking across the keyboard.

Laptops also make very comfortable beds!



 

He did also assist with the building of the layout in its earlier stages.

On 'early turn' one morning many years ago I got up at 0500 and as quietly as I could made myself a cuppa. Dusty, a black version of the sabre toothed-tiger rubbed against my bare legs as I stood wearing nothing underneath my dressing gown. In a misguided moment I turned round and squatted down to pour a little milk into his bowl. As I did so he swatted at what was dangling in mid-air with a clawed paw.
The milk bottle went up the wall, I pulled the plastic shelf fitting off the inside of the fridge' door and as I came down to earth I trod barefooted on the broken milk bottle and then hopped onto a near full carton of Cranberry juice. Naturally the piddling plastic cap didn't choose to stay in place and a litre of red sticky stuff shot across the floor at precisely the moment SWMBO flounced barefoot into the kitchen to demand why I had woken her up…….. 

Hhm……..we haven't had a feline friend since…
