Hello campers! I have returned from the Barossa Valley (the Worlds' Permier wine producing region) after a trek of just a touch over 300 km. I bring gifts of images of the lovely Matilda.![]() Our first stop was at the home of Iansa. Matilda is climbing the mountain (aren't we all?) on this magnificently scenicked US outline layout behind what looks like a Decapod. It was great to re-visit this superb layout after a hiatus of several months. We took our leave of Ian and Tinshed and Thistledo and headed further north . . . ![]() . . . to Evanston Gardens, where we find Matilda arriving at the seaside town of Barnstable. Emporer Sollieus has decreed that the entire city be razed to the ground and a new city be built in its place. Barnstable is clean, but poor - so poor that the people cannot afford ballast for their new railway tracks. After a nice cuppa tea and a bootered boon, we continure north the the BV . . . ![]() . . . to the home of CraigSR. Matilda got there before me and I snapped this pic of her sneaking into Pendle Valley. The people of Pendle Valley are also very poor. Now this is one big layout! Craig's son, Connor went in under the layout one Saturday and didn't come out for two days ! Anyway, we had a nice chat and I drove back alone ![]() Tomorrow Matilda will be packed into her little box and shipped off to MikeC. Hopefully he will make a more lucid report than I have done. Good to see Matilda on her way and with such comprehensive coverage of her travels as well. Thank you Max, and to the several managers of the regions Matilda has visited today. I shall raise a glass in her honour as well and wish her safe onward travels as she leaves Max's tender care for the first time. |

Great narrative and photographs Max. Looking at the first picture of Ian's layout alerted me to the fact that I hadn't checked out the latest news on it but when I went to the topic horror of horrors not a photograph in sight just a sticker saying that Ian's photobucket account is inactive, so all we have now is lots and lots of stickers. Looks like photobucket is really tightening up their act to get people to pay for hosting their pictures. Could you pay them a visit Ian and we might get the photographs back.

Ian's a bit distracted at the minute, Bob. He might not see your post. It might be quicker to email him direct.

Max deserves the the award at this stage - we have just provided the layouts and Max has done the miles / kms. Imagine if he was in England. He would have covered half the layouts by now. Thanks Max for your efforts thus far. It was good to be involved in this unique activity. Craig ____________________ Craig SR |

Thanks for the info Max. I have e-mailed Ian and hopefully he will be able to do something about it when time allows. We certainly can't afford to lose all those.

I'm glad that's only an ordinary Toad on Ron's layout, not a Cane Toad!! Great progress so far, and it's nice to see some photos of other people's layouts we don't normally see. It will be really interesting to see what the reaction is when Matilda gets to the exhibition in September. I am also following the updates on Chris's Kernow Models website. ____________________ Jeff Lynn, Amateur layabout, Professional Lurker, Thread hijacker extraordinaire |

If you regauge your car's track, you could use railway lines to save tyre wear!!

Dear Concerned of Wainscott While I do understand how very distressing the situation must be for you, try to see things in a more positive light. When Taurus makes his move towards your Aires, you could well see Pisces rise to the bait whilst Matilda makes a sudden dash for a tucker bag. Please try not to worry Concerned of Wainscott, should Matilda go to the United States following her waltzing around Australia, she will have to aclimatise before risking the harsh conditions of New York State and will go initially to sunny Florida. Wells Fargo (or whoever else is to hand) will then transport her, via your good self, to Canada. Of course, that may be just a red herring and she'll choose a completely different route !!! ____________________ 'Petermac |
