Matilda has finally arrived in Sarina, approx 1,000 kms north of Brisbane. The day has been fairly overcast and rainy as we have been feeling the edges of 2 ex tropical cyclones. Anyway the weather has not detered things, although when Matilda arrived there was a PRETTY STRONG SMELL OF COW. It was decided that Matilda would have to go to Wallys Wagon Cleaners before she could be presented at the North Yorks Motive Power Depot. ![]() After being dealt with in the cleaning shed she was brought out by the Get Wagons Ready shunter. She was then positioned ready for the heavy lifting gear as quite a bit of pongy stuff was ready to be removed. ![]() As you can see there was quite a bit to shift. ![]() So a sweet smelling and spruced up Matilda finally emerged from the tunnel between Grosmont and the MPD. ![]() Where she was brought through the admiring throng of preserved locos. ![]() and finally she was again placed under the control of the Get Wagons Ready loco to be made ready for her trip over to Western Australia. ![]() So get ready Marty she is leaving tomorrow morning. ____________________ John. |

No problem Mike. I had absolutely no idea what to do until I saw your pic of the cow. Regards, John. ____________________ John. |

Brilliant John. ![]() ![]() Love "Wally's", the straw and the "proper" name for that over-wide railway they built to Cornwall !! ![]() ![]() The effe=ort that has gone in down there is amazing - even including building a cleaning shed - and I offer a toast to our "down-under" members ![]() ![]() ![]() ____________________ 'Petermac |

I don't want to stir anything but the UK has a long way to go to match the Aussies when it comes to story telling and making the journey interesting.

Hmmm, well I'm back in town, Tropical Cyclone Magda was a "fizzer" and SES sent me home early. So, if she gets in the post tomorrow, Tuesday, she might get here on Thursday? We shall see. Either way, I fly to Melbourne on Thursday night and am back in Perth on Sunday night so there will be a slight delay here I'm afraid. Coupla days maybe, but she'll be right! Looking forward to her arrival. cheers ____________________ Marty N Gauge, GWR West Wales Newcastle Emlyn Layout. Newcastle Emlyn Station is "Under construction" |

I wouldn't be overly concerned by that, Peter. She didn't really need the clean-out either because the Big Red Engine which pulled her out of the tunnel is in the livery of the Let Matilda Smell railway company. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Marty wrote: Hmmm, well I'm back in town, Tropical Cyclone Magda was a "fizzer" and SES sent me home early. Don't worry too much about the slight delay Marty - she's making great progress in kangaroo land and the extra couple of days will give me a bit more time to work out the best continent to send her to after you. Her first "Inter-Continental trip !! Pleased "Magda" fizzled out for you. ![]() ____________________ 'Petermac |
