does anyone have any pics of urban arches, the type that a railway runs over. bridges and the type that has workhops under. i am looking at doing my first scratchbuild. thanks |

Sorry Matt, worked on, above, in and under these arches but never took any pictures! The ones in South London are all standard railway arches with each side bricked up to form the business. We used to have all sorts, from garages, car parks, builders merchants, scrap merchants, just about anything you could think off. There was a restaurant / take away in one near Waterloo. There are pubs as well with one called "The Hole in the Wall" outside Waterloo. The strangest one though was a small theatre used by the BR Theatre Club. It was two arches with one with the stage and seats etc and the adjacent one had the costumes, changing rooms and props etc. This has just reminded me that near Waterloo East was the London Weekend Television store and you would often see a small tractor unit pulling a long line of trailers down the street to the TV studios loaded with props. Not much help without pictures but maybe some ideas? |

Matt, these are the scalscenes arches and the underarch workshops, can be made in any format lots of choices for each workshop.

Chris i think i have been to that pub The Hole in the Wall, many moons ago. strang how something so common like a railway arch has very little infomation on the internet. John i have the scalescenes arches on my PC, i may use these as a size referance. i wanted to have a go at scatchbuilding with plasticard and brick just to dip my toe to see what i can achieve. Bob you are a naughty man, you put up this link silicone arch i like casting (done a few latex and 1 silicone) then i see this site you put up about arches and making moulds. i have the silicone and resin sat at home so i may have a tinker with this  |
