Hi every one,Some of you may remember that some time ago, last year, I told you that I sadly had to dismantle my existing layout as the good lady wanted to move back to the UK. Well, the good news is that she has seen sense and now wants to stay here in Spain. The bad news is that she wants to move to somewhere a bit smaller and closer to civilisation - so the move is still in the pipeline once we have sold our home. In the mean time, after many nights of laying in bed dreaming of a future layout, I have been inspired! The latest (for me anyway as they always take ages to reach me) edition of Hornby Magazine, featured a box file layout based on a Scalescenes kit. I have downloaded this kit (or files to print out) ready to get going on a new micro layout. Over here, ply wood can be purchased in 120cm lengths. My thoughts at the moment are these. Incorporate a box file diorama at each end of the 120cm ply and have the centre section for point work which will also incorporate scenery. All my points have been cannibalised to allow the use of tortoise point motors so I will have to have a box section of ply underneath the ply base to allow the fitting of the motors. This will be the first time I have gone 'small' in OO gauge so would welcome any hints, tips or suggestions. I know that I will not be able to run full size trains anymore for a while and will be quite happy for class 03, 08 and 31's to run backwards and forwards. Happy bunny now and more sleepless nights are imminent whilst I plan on putting those itchy fingers back to good use. ____________________ Gary __________________________________________________ I am no expert but I do what I can, when I can, with what I can. |

Hi Gary The picture of the month on the main page is Chris's (Teasel Bay) Boxfile which won a recent competition, so he may have some advice or can point you in the direction of other boxfiles entered in the competition, for inspiration... Hi Michael, A really lovely scene and just shows what can be produced from odd scraps if needs be. My goal will be to having a small working layout which incorporates a box file scene or two until I can get to playing around on a bigger scene. Love the canal water on Chris's little scene and I do have a spare bottle of Aqua magic floating around somewhere so it could come in useful. ____________________ Gary __________________________________________________ I am no expert but I do what I can, when I can, with what I can. |

If you plan carefully you can then use the dirorma as a drop in section to form the start of a new layout when you find your new home ? Nothing to stop you doing one or two scenic 'Dioramas' ready to use, in advance of the move to give you a headstart on a new layout ![]() Cheers Matt ____________________ Wasnie me, a big boy did it and ran away "Why did you volunteer ? Nice idea Matt. Plans are already in my head! I am going to have great fun unpacking the boxes to find all those little bits that I have kept, somewhere! ____________________ Gary __________________________________________________ I am no expert but I do what I can, when I can, with what I can. |
