To all members having problems logging on with annoying popups Martin has suggested using this more secure link https://yourmodelrailway.net Copy and paste to you favourites etc. In the meantime I will open a ticket with the server host. |

Hopefully Jim ( The server host) will get to the bottom of it Alan. I tried to replicate the problem last night on multiple machines, desktop, two laptops and two different tablets in several different browsers, logging in and out and surfing the forum anonymously but I just cant get popups, even with popup blocker turned off If any members are in touch with others outwith the forum via email etc, who have had problems, please pass onthe link Alan has posted above, from Martin so they can get in popup free for now, Cheers Matt |

Hi Chaps, unfortunately the secure link still permits pop ups on both Firefox and Edge for me. The grey padlock with the yellow warning triangle I had at the top of the screen yesterday has been replaced by a grey padlock with a red bar through it today, so something seems to have changed. My temporary work round is to very quickly shut down the pop up before it fully loads. Looking forward to a resolution soon and many thanks for the efforts to make us safe again. I have received a reply from Jim at Data1 our forum host. So far no popups or unusual scripts running. It could be one particular topic. Try to narrow it down, how many people are experiencing this? Which browser and operating system are they using? The ones that are, is it one particular topic they are hanging out in? Thank you- Jim Data 1 Systems If the members affected can let me know any of the reasons above I will let Jim know. |

Hi Alan I have had issues using Firefox. I started getting strange websites open - mostly gaming sites. The new link has stopped the strange websites but I dont get the emojis or any of the graphics on the screen. I tend to look at the "Recent" topics 99% of the time so if there is an issue, its in there somewhere. Barry |

I use Firefox Alan and I'm nearly sure my problems only came with Colin's thread. I say "nearly sure" because as soon as I realised I'd lost control of things, I did a crash shut down so didn't try anywhere else. I haven't had any problems since I followed the Avast instruction to reactivate something to do with a VPN. For obvious reasons, I didn't spend too long studying what was happening to my screen - I just wanted out ! |

HTTPS won’t work fully as the icons are requested on HTTP. HTTPS being secure won’t allow any unsecure requests so doesn’t bother asking tor the icons. Going to HTTPS doesn’t work anyway. Who ever wrote the forum code, seems to have hard coded the links, so you end up back on HTTP! Last edited on Fri Sep 11th, 2020 05:18 pm by TeaselBay |

Chris, this is read & written under HTTPS but as said, icons are missing. I came in first thing today ( being 7:30AM Saturday 12th) into the normal HTTP path & a gaming site also appeared on Tabs - using Firefox V80.0.1 |

Don't know f this is any help, but whatever system I've used with whatever browser I always install the AdBlocker Ultimate extension. Never had any adds or popups. Ed Last edited on Sat Sep 12th, 2020 04:03 am by Ed |

I have had only 3 or 4 popups spread over the last week. I think at least one ocurred using Firefox on my laptop the remainder would be with Safari on my Ipad. I only use recent topics. The popups each occuronced at the start of the session and were not repeated during the session. As I said they have only happened a few times over 7 days. The site yourmodelrailway.net is now always shown as “not secure”........not sure if this was always the case. Regards John |

TeaselBay wrote: Who ever wrote the forum code, seems to have hard coded the links, so you end up back on HTTP! The code dates from 2003, originally written as WowBB. I have changed some of the hard-coded links to https. More work is needed. If you log in using https some features will be missing, such as icons. If you want to revert to http to see the icons, click the picture of the month, and then on the breadcrumb trail below the top logo. You can also revert to http by clicking the links in email notifications. Martin. |

Hey, I wasn’t complaining. I was just saying what it did and that changing the url only worked temporarily! Thanks for putting the forum together and maintaining it ![]() |

Hi Martin and thank you. YMRC is behaving on both my laptop and tablet. I'd be pleased to hear what it was you and Jim found lurking in the background to create the popups. Best, Bill Last edited on Mon Sep 14th, 2020 03:19 pm by Longchap |
