No Kevin I do not know, nor was I referring to your mother's maiden name, just to the fact that you do not need a password to transfer files from an SD card to a PC. I assume you know the password, if one is set, to your PC start screen. If you need a password to back up files to third party storage system, then that's another story. Personally, I never use third party hosting, as I like to retain control of who can find access to my files, but levels of personal data security is for everyone to decide for themselves. The 'cloud' is simply someone else's computer storage system. I prefer to use my own drives (storage) which are generally not subject to interference from hackers. Hi Jeff. Thank you for your reply. The point is that “ I don’t know much about converting my Terrier to DCC “ let alone adding sound. And I even know less about my Laptop as I have been using my iPad. And we have taken the wrong path . Best wishes Kevin

One thing at a time Kevin. Plan the 0-4-0 decoder installation, assemble everything you need and then do it. With a good plan and everything laid out ready, it will done in no time and give you the confidence for others. In the meantine, put the Terrier out of you mind. It's not going anywhere. Hi Kevin, Still not done yet? Just to get you going, take 5 over a cuppa and write a list of what you need and status - you have it, you need to find it, you need to order it or go shopping. Hi Kevin, Game on then! Is that is the decoder for the Terrier or for the pug? I wouldn't advise on using an expensive sound decoder for a first try at wiring in a decoder. Cheapo Digitrax or Bachmann/Hornby. Nigel ____________________ ©Nigel C. Phillips |

Hi Nigel. Thank you. This Decoder is a digitrax dz126, Nothing fancy I will investigate the Terrier first as I know that it has been done . But if I was an expert I would try Sounds as well , and there is a L&Y Pug on a YouTube video, with a very impressive sound job . Best wishes Kevin

Hi Bill, the Terrier got sidelined about post 30 due to a missing chip, the Pug was introduced as a temporary replacement service and given the green light but the missing chip was found and the Terrier seams to have returned to the main line and the Pug returned to the sidings with its body off. .. . Hi All. After sorting out the wiring, c/o. Barry Miltenburg, and a long spell of no work being done. I have some catching up to do. What with no scenery, half the motive power awaiting conversion to DCC, Plus new couplers. I have ideas of what needs to be done, but, Covid-19 has got in the way. I emailed Hornby about the decoder required for the Terrier and other Locos, I received a reply blaming the terrible disease that is blighting the world, which makes me wonder, why I didn’t turn to the forum in the first place, where there are a lot of good people.I have an idea about stretching the tunnel, but all that stuff has to come through the post. Not sure if this is a question or a statement Kevin .....................  What does Covid 19 have to do with Hornby not telling you which decoder is suitable for the Terrier ? I know it's a tiny loco so needs a small decoder but plenty of people have done it. Certainly Hornby won't retro fit a decoder for you - it's not what they do, but there are umpteen retailers who could do it. Of course, they'd need the loco so it would have to be posted to them but, as far as I'm aware, the postal services are still operating, albeit at a reduced level. ____________________ 'Petermac |
