Nice to see Union of South Africa back again Owen.  I saw her with her sisters at the "Great Goodbye" event.

Is "KOYLI" visiting or does she live at Shildon ?

I remember rushing to York station as a lad to watch "Deltic" herself run through with the Flying Scotsman around 1pm each weekday.  The train was normally A4 hauled but on occasion, Deltic took control resplendant in her blue and gold livery. :thumbs:thumbs

I too can remember seeing the original blue "Deltic" prototype at Retford on the ECML in the late 50's/early 60's, sometimes deputising for the usual A4's. About 18 months ago, when "Bittern" was doing the 90mph runs, I returned to Retford for the first time in over 50 years to find that, apart from the middle line having been removed, little else had changed from what I remember. Although I'm much more of a 'steam' man, I still bought the NRM's "Special edition" of the Bachmann prototype "Deltic" last year, not sure if it was for reasons of nostalgia or an impulse purchase at the "Great Electric Train show"!
Keith.
