I guess some of you will be aware that I've stopped production of my N'spirations range of magazines (see http://yourmodelrailway.net/view_topic.php?id=9473&forum_id=40&page=2) as I've now been appointed Editor of the NGS Journal.

I've updated some content on the NGS web-site (although there is still much to do) and have posted some info about Journal 2/14 and article submissions here:   http://www.ngaugesociety.com/index.php?mact=News,cntnt01,detail,0&cntnt01articleid=237&cntnt01origid=171&cntnt01returnid=171

Z.

I thought it might be of interest to forum members to provide an update on the 'N Gauge Journal' which is the bi-monthly magazine of the N Gauge Society and of which I'm the editor.

It's an 88 page full colour A5 publication all about N gauge modelling that is sent to all members of the N Gauge Society. With it is supplied a separate black and white Newsletter that covers all the current news about the Society. The forthcoming issue (2/15) is now nearly ready for printing and publication, and is scheduled to be dropping through members letterboxes in the last week of March. As usual it will include a wide range of article topics:

In addition, free with issue 2/15, will be an extra special colour booklet about making buildings with cardboard. To ensure that you receive the Journal, Newsletter and the Booklet make sure that you are a member - joining and renewals can be made on-line at the society website: http://www.ngaugesoc...x.php?page=Join

Cheers.

GH.

Thank you for the update Graham, certainly something to look forward to, especially as I am embroiled in constructing a number of the Metcalfe buildings!

They are straight forward but no doubt the magazine will give extra tips of which most of us are unaware?
Thanks again, Peter.

NGS Journal 3/15 is now in the post and should be dropping through UK letterboxes from today - overseas members will have to wait a little longer for overseas postage.

Enjoy.

I'm glad that people are looking forward to the NGS Journal. Hopefully all members are enjoying it.

There have been a couple of whinges that there's too much diesel and electric motive power featured (oddly not that there's insufficient steam stuff) but to a large extent it rather depends on what is submitted. So perhaps I can appeal for a broader range of articles to be provided.

Cheers,
G.

Issue 6/15 of the N Gauge Society Journal is currently at the printers and should be with UK members by the end of the month (with overseas members a little later dependant on local postal systems/arrangements).

As usual it is full of interesting, and hopefully inspirational, articles and features, plus reports from TINGS and the regular reviews and news. I hope those who get a copy enjoy it. Feed back and comment is always welcome.

Just thinking a down loadable low res would be nice were members go to the main website and down load it (Just thinking out loud)

We don't have the facilities or security to be able to do that - firstly there is no mechanism (on the website) for members to 'sign in' to validate and ensure only current members have access to it (or a section of it) and then there is no method to prevent a PDF being copied and distributed around the ether. And, of course, the Journal is formatted for A5 'portrait' printing whereas most screens that it would be viewed on electronically are landscape. As editor and designer I don't have the appropriate 'web' experience and I'm certainly not prepared to produce a second differently formatted version - one is quite enough.

However, the Society does produce a CD with a complete years worth of Journal on it that is available from the NGS Shop.

Cheers,

Z.

I hope NGS members enjoyed the last Journal (6/15).

The next issue, 1/16 - the first for next year, is now at a well advanced state and should be sent out to be with (at least UK) members before the end of January. It will include a separate small supplier listing leaflet and it is hoped that the Newsletter, that is also sent out with the Journal, will include a listing of the items available from the NGS mail order shop.

Articles for inclusion in future issues of the Journal are welcome and encouraged. So if you have a current N gauge modelling project or layout that could be featured then please make the effort. There is a large insatiable audience who would no doubt enjoy seeing your efforts. And it seems that many NGS members do not have computers or internet access so it doesn't matter if it has already been featured on forums.

Cheers.

Z.

The copy deadline for NGS 'Journal' 1/16 has now passed and the content has all been finalised and planned. The 'Newsletter' content has been received, compiled and sent off, and I'm working on the design, layout and finishing touches for the Journal. There will also be a supplier listing compendium leaflet/booklet with 1/16.

All three (Journal, Newsletter and Compendium leaflet) are scheduled for sending out during week commencing 25th January so should be with UK members by the of Jan - just time for those who are not members, but would like to get a copy, to join (see the NGS website).

Best wishes to all for the New Year.

Here's the covers of the three publications that all members will be sent later this month. The scheduled send out is week commencing 25th January so UK members should get it before the end of the month. You'll notice that the main Journal has had a minor design makeover.
