Hi sorry took so long to reply (we were away for a few days)Yes your idea is much in line with mine -was planning to obtain motor from scaletrix car and use a " drive shaft " type system as the winch. I have a telescopic screwdriver which I presently plan to recycle into the hydraulic ram arrangement. The screwdriver is 2.5 mm into 3.00 mm.

The use of the scalextric motor removed from a car is being considered as an economy motor which can be easily "reversed" and can readily/hopefully be geared down to operate the lift at a sensible scale speed
Hope that the above makes some sense

I thought you mean it telescoped from 2.5mm up to 3mm. Now I see what you mean - a 2.5mm tube fits inside a 3mm tube …………….:roll: Your reference to a radio aerial released the penny …….:cheers.
