A couple of things omwb ATM.  First up thanks to the generosity of a member of the model railway forum a mini clubman from the springside kit



Next thanks to a tip off on the mbf forum another route to the mercedes van comes from matchbox. This is the lower roof version and is shown alongside my in progress corgi model

Just a quick question, what do you do with the matchbox wheels, how do you change them ?

The toy wheels go into the bin to be replaced with cast ones - in this case from Paragon models.

Also OMWB is a Mk1 transit bus from John Day Models.  A simple enough kit - just 3 parts but lets just say its a bit erm… 'scruffy'

I have been busy with the tranny kit.  the castings have been filed and the windows brought to a square shape along with some of the detail filed off completely and replaced.  Happier now!

Work progresses on my attempts to get the Springside Mini Clubman kit looking a bit more like a mini clubman!  I have raised the model on its suspension a tad and opened out the windsceen.  However I think the lower panels are a bit squashed…



I am toying with the idea of cutting the roof off to reduce the height of the windows a bit.  Any thoughts people?

My thoughts would be to scrap it (and the transit) before I'd started all that work Jim.
Not the best of kit but your improvements certainly are making a difference.

Returning to the clubman kit - its more than a bit wrong TBH but with a reprofiled front windscreen, raising the ride height and reducing the roof its better.  I still think everything below the windows is a bit squashed though.



Still got to sort out the front nearside wheel though.

Definitely better with the roof lower, just a shame about the lower panels.
 I like the smooth look you achieved with the Transit.

Hi All

Some in progress road vehicles for you.

Starting with



Recently released mk1 Golf from Oxford diecast.  Seems to capture the shape OK plus its assembled with screws (thats good!)  Needs the inside of the window frames painting plus it features the 'monster truck' style tyres they introduced on their XR3 and Capri models.  Plus a spray of matt varnish to take the shiney-ness off.



A couple of Mk3 transits from the MBC kits.  Both of these were aquired pre built but needed the details painting up.  I really like these kits but as this type of transit would be brand new on the layout what I really need is the Mk2 type.



I really must stop bashing the Corgi ford cargo into other things as they are taking over the layout!  I have one more on the go and thats it I think!  This one has been in the shop for a very long time but its nearly there now.

Just caught up with this -if you parked the mini with one wheel on a kerb, you could solve the difference in height issue. But it does look oddly proportioned.

Just a spot of black paint where it should have been, new tyres from hose from a pet shop, a quick spray of matt varnish and a driver.

While I had the tube out I have swapped the tyres on an XR3i too



The one on the right is being converted to a normal escort and uses TPM wheels.
