Good cheap and bad choice?
Hi All. Some time ago? I purchased a Hot Glue Gun ( from a famous online site) I read the instructions , plugged it in andwaited. But I wasn’t impressed with it. Until today? when I thought that I would give it a second chance, wouldn’t you just know it, I cannot remember where I put it, but, I found the sticks measuring 7.2 x 100 mm. Is this a regular size?My question is, should I buy a new one or find another way to glue plywood to steel/ iron??? Best wishes Kevin

They do take an age to heat up to the required level but suspect that is mainly because there is not room in them to fit a higher power heating element probably including some form of thermostatic control.
The other disadvantage is that they usually leave a thin string of glue as you pull away from the job, that being said trhey do have their uses.
Cheers MIKE

Any flexible general construction adhesive or marine glue should work. As should most contact adhesives (small areas). Not the water- based ones though for obvious reasons. I have had poor results with CAA unless it is small pieces and no load. Silicone (marine grade if you can find it) works fine as well. As does Liquid Nails. Large areas will need the ply kerfing. Otherwise expansion and contraction will peel it off like a ripe banana skin. Avoid cheap ply. MDF is actually more stable.
Anything but cheap hot melt glue of indeterminate property and composition. Use the electricity to make a brew.

They sometimes call them a mini glue gun at that size but not always i have 2 that size one says mini the other doesnt.
they are both rated at 60 watts if that helps you getting a replacement if the glue stick size is not stated

If your not happy with using a glue gun, these will glue anything you want! The superglue gives you a little wiggle time but the gel is pretty instant.
I use these for just about everything that does`nt need soldering……

CAA, Gorilla included, has a tough time with Delrin, acetal or nylon (3D prints). The label states "most plastics". Even when the surfaces are keyed. Regular Gorilla glue, like most urethane-based glues, expands during curing and needs clamping. Otherwise stuff doesn't fit anymore.

SWMBO has got me on a daily dose of 1/8th of a Viagra tablet. It's nothing to do with the 'horizontal gavotte' side of things, more an attempt to stop me dripping on the toilet seat or my new Xmas slippers…..Viagra is all well and fine, so long as you swallow it quickly, Brian.
Otherwise you can end up with a stiff neck.
