Quick Hello
Hello - just wanted to say hello and briefly introduce myself. I’m a “returner†to the hobby and hope to build a permanent layout one day. Unfortunately as I live in a smallish apartment that’s not a realistic possibility in the immediate future. However I’m determined to not let this stop me developing my modelling skills and have finally started building a small shelf layout entitled Baffie Halt - an imaginary setting on a Scottish loch shore in the mid 60’s

Well done you for realising that enjoying railway modelling doesn't have to involve modelling the whole of the West Highland Line - there have been some brilliant Highland "planks" - some of Ian Futers works immediately spring to mind.
You say you're "returning" so presumably you've already built something in the past - what scale, era and control system etc. and will your plank continue the theme or will it be a complete change ?

When I mentioned that I was a “returner†I was referring to many many years ago in my youth - when I had free range in my parents attic! I didn’t model a particular era as such though being a Sherlock Holmes enthusiast I was drawn to the late Victorian era and attempted a few simple scenario around my Hornby Caledonian Railway Single 123 - which sadly has since long gone…
I was gifted one of Ian Futers books which has been a source of much inspiration and I find the mid 60’s fascinating - particularly in a Scottish context - including even the BR Railbuses! - so here’s to my first plank!
