As you can see I am just getting started! It's a grandad railway for the grandchildren.
The photo probably tells all.

Looks like you and the grandkids are going to have a lot of fun.
I can't explain the rotation of the photo. Maybe try going into edit mode, removing the photo and uploading again.

The Wainwright 060 model dates from the 50s when I was given the train set, probably Christmas. I lived in North Staffordshire at that time. Since then my working career took me around the country eventually retiring near to Folkestone. I was surprised to find that the tank engine had been used on the Crab and Winkle line in Kent and on the port at Folkestone, destiny? I brought it home!
I have an interest in the now closed lines. As well as the Crab and Winkle we have the Elham valley line between Folkestone and Canterbury. I had considered modelling one of the stations on that line, maybe Lyminge or Elham itself. Lots of information in "The Elham Valley Line" by Brian Hart.
However, perhaps I should do Folkestone harbour with my tank engine pulling the boat train.

My Dad built a model railway for me and my brother then said we were really too young to appreciate it but, as he'd put so much effort into it, it might as well stay and he'd do the maintenance ……….
I'm assuming your grandchildren are of a similar age …….

Crack on,
Bill
At 6'4'', Bill is a tall chap, then again, when horizontal he is rather long and people often used to trip over him! . . . and so a nickname was born :)

As a collector of older models, it's nice to see some lovely old things on your layout. Amazing how many years they can last when looked after.
Welcome to the club!
All the best,
Gordon 😀
