This is a Tram i picked up off Ebay A Preston Tramcar quite a early tramcar probably around 1910-25 this is a matchbox model not up to the standard of model from corgi or efe today but still quite nice.

It has a added bonus it already has a Tenshido motor bogie fitted put it on the trac and away it goes

Heres a piccy

That brings back a few memories Brian. We used to have trams similar to that in Birmingham when I was younger. I can still remember the noise they used to make.

Cute!
What sort of performance are you expecting from the tramcars? Do they run at realistic speeds?
I can't quite tell from the photo [and I realise this one isn't top-of-the-range] but is the motor visible inside, and if so, will that be the case with more expensive models?

Bob my time estimate must be wrong if you remember these type of trams running around.

Mike they are low geared so they do run quite slow which is right for trams

If you look closely yes you can see the motor unit but it is very flat not like a normal train motor you could actually hide it quite easily if you wanted to.

In fact i just noticed you can see the metal bracket that is on top of the motor in the photo

Nice find there Brian.  The Tenshido motors are rather handy for trams as some modellers here have discovered.  They also fit the very tidy models of the Melbourne W-class trams which are widely available.

Now can we expect an extension of the T&P to link in with the Seaton Tramway?

Thats a beautiful tram,Brian. If I were you,I'd stick some passengers in her and do a very light weathering job on her, just to take the newness off her,cos she looks TOO clean,if you know what I mean? Like fresh from the paintshop.

This narrow gauge/tramline is going to look the business. Can't wait to see that 2-6-2 you're building!

Cheers,John.B.:thumbs

The T&P tramway is going to be a tramway heritage centre:lol::lol: im not daft i already 3 trams and they are from differant places and eras so there not much chance of me getting the dates right:lol::lol:

John

The tramway is 4mm so will run on 00 gauge track i will be using code100 but i am undecided how i will cover the sleepers card/plasticard/ or perhaps clay or something.

Owen

There are some really great model tramway layouts around i have seen quite a few online since i have taken an interest in trams

As far as covering the tracks goes, my vote would be for water putty if you can get it there.
