Just finished building the coal bunker on my Ratio coal depot kit, now what colours should I be using on the bunkers woodwork as it all ready comes black which is horrible. :)

Sort of coal coloured Kev, as it would soon be totally covered in coal dust, including the ground and pretty much everything in close proximity, including people!

Weathering powders (dark greys and blacks) over matt dark brown should produce some grimy realism.

I think I might start with rail tie brown since these things were often built from worn out sleepers.  After that, use powders to reflect the large quantities of coal dust and dirt.

It might be US but it shows the treatment that a lot of bins don't get…the outside uprights etc are 'wevvered wood' colour as coal is not piled up against them….

This is my coal bunker - After priming, I used Colron woodstain, and then used a mixture of Dark Earth and White Humbrol weathering powders for most of the wood, then using Humbrol "Smoke" for the areas where heavy coal dust would build up. Looking at it, I could have used more "smoke" and got away with it!!! Not great pics.
