Between factory siding and adjacent track
I need to erect a fence or wall between the siding alongside the factory building and the adjacent track, I'll also be adding a gate across the rail coming into the siding.
The rest of the factory is enclosed by a brick wall except for the retaining wall at the top of the pic. So do I continue a brick wall or would a fence be more prototypical I suspect the answer could well be "whichever you want or have avaiable" - just thought I'd ask!
Once I've got whichever erected I can finish ballasting and generally cleaning up the area, It's only been like it since the beginnimng of June.

Walls tended to be more common when labour was cheap. Security fencing is a fairly recent innovation. Post and rail fencing wouldn't be high enough, and "panel" fencing wouldn't look right to me.
I'd go for the wall but only if it's to screen the factory. If it's a simple "border", then I'd probably go with post and rail fencing.

I think i would go for a wall to keep consistency to the factory area. A few weeds and bushes against the wall trackside may be prototypical . I am sure it will look good whatever you decide.:thumbs

My reasoning: A brick wall would be more in keeping with the factory style and existing walls but will also partially block your view of any stock in the siding. A fence or railings would be more 'see through' and allow you to better show off your models.
