Tesco's clay cat litter

Before I start, my computer has a fault in its soft-ware so I cannot post any pictures at present, but I have recently been blessed with 2 kittens (alarming the damage they can do).

Off I went to Tesco for some cat litter, I bought the clay variety, on opening I found it would make a marvellous lime stone wagon load or even ballast and for the cost of under £2 for quite a large bag its got to be a saving on normal ballast  from the model shop!

As I say can't post any pictures at present but believe me I'm sure you will be pleased with the results:thumbs

Oooh !!  Looking forward to this one.:roll:  Dare I ask what the kittens are using if you've swiped all the litter ?

You'd want to make absolutely certain the ballast never got wet ;-).

In my situation that isn't possible and I hate to think what might happen if the neighbouring felines found kitty litter around the railway on their nightly patrols.

The cat litter seems to be odourless, before it's been used for it's primary function!  (though obviously not to cats).

SWMBO has insisted that I use only clean litter and there is an ample supply left for Stan and Molly.

Interesting effects can be achieved by misting water over the litter as it appears to clump together and turns a darker colour.

As the cats have not yet ventured into the loft I have yet to see there reaction to it!

I have used pulverised cat litter mixed with water and PVA for small landfills. It tends to shrink a bit when it dries but it's not a bad way to fix the potholes and gaps that my layouts seem to get!
