Im sure Rick will be looking carefully at that for his next layout if he intends it to be a Cornish theme perfect North coast waves

Problem is waves are dynamic - looks great in pictures but what about when something else is moving and waves aren't? Looks awful to my eyes.

It could be a good way to model the "froth" that is sometimes present at a water's edge though.

Looking carefully and with considerable interest. Though I'm not letting any of my little people take their surfboards out into anything that sloppy!
With nothing more than painted baseboard to represent water at present the best method of representing dynamic waves has been something gnawing at the back of my mind for quite some time.
In a sense I'm with Jeff and feel that something which, by definition, can only exist whilst in motion cannot be convincingly represented in a static form. But I would still like to have a little more "3D" to my scene and with it perhaps even a surfer riding a wave; that's not something you see modelled very often.
Plenty of food for thought there. And some superb modelling with it.

Not 3D but can you project a moving sea onto a flat surface or alternativly build a monitor into the layout?

My thanks to this wonderful coastal scene though, it inspired mine. One of the many tips I have learned since joining this forum.
