Just a few photos of the canal basin at Ashwood Basin. Just poured the water, a product called Magic Water available from EDM Models. Everything in the pictures (except the track) is scratch-built from plasticard, Evergreen sections and whatever else was in the bits box. The coal chutes are based on the ones near Cannock.

Nice work Mike. Did you colour the magic water or is it influenced by the painted base? It looks good and murky.

Thanks MikeC, the colour is on the base, the water is clear. I spent a lot of time getting what I think is the right colour which  I thought easier to achieve that tinting the water. I also wanted to get depth and reflections as the water is still. I'll leave others to decide whether I've got it right. There is still a lot of work to be done to the trestle which will need algae etc added to it.

Is your layout home based or is it one that is portable to take to exhibitions?

How deep did you pour the magic water Mike?
Great job by the way, looks just the ticket.

Hi Marty, the water is about 2-3mm in depth, but looks deeper. What I like about the product is that it stays flexible is easy to mix and doesn't have bubbles.
