I have just had an enquiry over on NRM forum with regards to the balast used on potters lane. I actualy bought a tub of fine gravel from my local pet shop but having read the label I have just noticed a web address. Not sure if its in the index Bob but the link is http://www.geoscenics.co.uk The stuff I have used is Medium extra light - product code CACO800. They have a few railway bits on the website. :thumbs

Dave, are you saying you bought "Geoscenics" ballast as fish-tank gravel in a pet shop ?  I could imagine it the other way round but this must be the first time relatively "expensive" track ballast has been marketed as relatively "cheap" gravel.

It's probably exactly the same stuff Dave but when it's sold to railway modellers, it costs thousands whilst fish tank owners get it for pence !!

It's like marker pens - tell someone it's for photography and the price trebles !!!
