i have no idea were to put signals on my layout what signals go were

Hi there. A bit more information about your layout would assist in a more comprehensive answer. Are you, for example, using coloured light or semaphore signals. Single track or double, through station or terminus etc. Depending upon the complexity of the layout with junctions etc, so the answer will be equally complex. There are some basic principles, which can be applied to most settings though. The other factor is  the scale of the layout and space available, as you may not be able to fit in the whole range of signals and may have to compromise. Let us know what track plan you want to support and I am sure we can help.
