I was passing through Banbury over the weekend, almost all the old GWR track has now gone, replaced with concrete sleepers, FB rail and modern clips.

For those who want to wire droppers to the outside or inside web there is now a prototype.

I believe it's train detection equipment (it counts the wheels/axles apparently), the wires go to a yellow junction box under the platform edge. Essentially an  occupancy detector, as long as the axle count equals the train total it's all good. This is heavily used track (one passenger train every 5-10 minutes plus freights).

Hi Nigel.  In an old Ian Allan publication "British Railways Signalling " 2nd edition 1968, they have a description , unfortunately but no photos of a "Treadle". I am certain that I have seen one somewhere. I only purchased this book to make a model of an O gauge "Summersault Signal".  Best wishes. Kevin
