It's a very atmospheric layout and if it wasn't for the lack of ripples you would think it's real water.

I think that river is a sheet of float glass and what you see as the bottom is a painted board stuck to the glass.
Under the boat i think there must be a number of ball bearing rollers which have been carefully set to the correct height to give the absolute minimum clearance between boat and glass it must be magnetically attached to some sort of track below the baseboard which has a slow movement motor attached which follows the track.
Thats my guess what other ideas are there?
