This event is on Saturday 21st April in Twickenham Library, is free, and is aimed at the general public as much as modellers. TDMRC are keen to bring new and younger blood into the hobby and this is one of the ways they hope to do so. Two of their layouts will be on show.
I have also arranged, with thanks to the officers of the Club, to have a small table displaying my weathering work and with the specific pitch of showing what a self-taught beginner can achieve. It can be too easy to admire others' work with the thought that "I could never do that ….. " and I hope to persuade a few people that quality weathering can be as simple as picking up a pen or brush and starting.
I shall be using the five-arch viaduct from Penhayle Bay, having its first outing in the UK, as a scenic riser and rotating the exhibits from time to time on the two tracks to show a selection of items. I shall also have some kit with me in case I am asked to demonstrate technique but that is not the primary intention and this is not a weathering demonstration as such.
If you happen to be in the area please drop in. Both TDMRC and myself are keen to engage new and younger members of the community by any reasonable means. In my case it has been through the successful use of social media.

Good to meet up and chat about weathering on Saturday.
Full marks to T&DMRC for the event that seemed to attract a good few people through the door and introduce them to what you do. Ian "I talk too much" was a great front man to set the scene and a few moving trains sparked plenty of conversation.
Also very good to see Peter and the younger modellers displaying their layout in work-in-progress mode. Well done them.
Congrats to all concerned
