These are all located in the area known as the railwaylands to the north of Kings Cross and St Pancras. Some are presently in the throes of being converted to retail and other uses.

On the old maps these buildings are shown as offices. Whilst a part of them may have been used as offices it seems more likely that most were warehouses - possibly provender stores.

The building to the right is one of the coal drops buildings.

A coal drops buildings. Wagons of coal arrived at high level and were tipped into bunkers. Carters used the low level entrances to access the bunkers and take coal away for distribution around London.

The south face of the granary complex.

The granary complex is a set of buildings rather than just one enormous warehouse. Now the spaces have been made into covered courtyards, but traces of other buildings can be seen.

The north end.

West elevation.

Wet fish was delivered and transhipped under the canopies to the east. Further east, but now demolished, were the potato warehouses. Apparently there was a large potato market here for many years.

Great set of pics once again. Some of those old buildings do look good again after revamping, but not as good as they did in there day. Although they are probably a lot cleaner these days, without all the soot, ash and dust !

Cheers, Gary.
