This GWR warehouse is in Liverpool and preserved as part of the Albert Dock complex. Goods were shipped across the Mersey from the GWR goods complex in the Morpeth Docks to this warehouse for onwards distribution in the Liverpool area by road.

That warehouse is just the sort of thing I'm looking for David. Do you have any more photos of it, particularly that 2 storey building at the far end of the warehouse ? 

Not at the moment Trevor. As you can see it was fenced off for some reason. You can be sure I'll be going back there though over the course of this summer.

Thanks David. That high wall and structure that protrudes up between the two buidings at the end is intriguing me. I'm not sure if it's some sort of chimney or air extract flue.

I think you've got it Trevor. It looks like an air vent for the warehouse section and then the gable end of the offices at the end have been carried up, possibly as a fire stop but also to incorporate the chimney flues. It's certainly an unusual feature and I'll pay special attention to it when I do go back.

 

A few more pictures of the warehouse and offices. It's still fenced off but I was able to get a little bit closer, so hopefully the extra detail will help Trevor.

If anyone can do it justice it's you Trevor,give it a go you know you want to.I'm just about to start attempting to model the Southall gasholder totally from scratch,a first for me.

It will be a while before I tackle that as I really MUST concentrate on finishng the track laying.

I'll keep an eye open for that then,it looks a fascinating building.
