This is a song me and my friend did about 10 yrs ago. Recorded in my kitchen on a boss br 600 digital recorder. I wrote the lyrics and lead guitar riffs, my friend wrote the rhythm guitar part and sang it. The only editing that was done to it was to play my intro backwards and slow it down to get that sound and the drum track was a 4/4 standard boss drum track that was doubled up and a delay put on one drum track. Only amateur stuff but fun to do. The song is about the industrial mill towns like Oldham where I’m from. Then the video was made using bits of footage from YouTube. Ps I saw Fred knock a few chimneys down over the years.

I spent 5 years of my youth, from 1963 to 1968 playing Bass in a group based in Bridlington.
We had just cracked the South Yorkshire Working Mens Club circuit and were considering giving up our day jobs when the drummer announced he was sick of all the travelling.
Having gone through a couple of personel changes and all that that entailed I took my good old Fender Pres Bass and amp and speaker cabinet down to the music shop and sold it all.
Following my wifes fathers passing shortly after we decided to emigrate to Australia.
I have hardly ever touched a guitar since.

I’m terrible at chords and rhythm but I’m ok at making riffs and lead intros etc. my friend is a good rhythm guitarist.
The working men’s clubs and con/labour clubs have all died a death now along with most of the pubs here. People blame the cost of living and cheap beer in supermarkets but you’ve always been able to buy cheaper beer in supermarkets, I think it was the smoking ban and the change in people’s lifestyle that caused it.

I can manage five chords on my Uke without looking at the fretboard too much.

Same here, it’s easier to play lead riffs. When you’re picking out lead riffs your right hand is following your left

You must have been quite good to get on the South Yorkshire Working Men's club circuit - plenty of miners I'd guess nd they could be very demanding when it came to entertainment ………………………….
In the mid 60's we "lads" haunted Scarborough - the Scene One disco - good days they were.
