Bachmann 00 DMU unpowered bogie has lost its screw...
Bachmann 00 DMU unpowered bogie has lost its screw…The securing screw that holds the unpowered bogie on my Bachmann 105 DMU appears to have gone missing. I've searched all of the track-bed and vacuumed with my hand-held vacuum cleaner - to no avail I'm afraid….
The service Sheet that comes with the model does not give a part number and I have not been able to identify the item number with a search of the web.
Can anyone suggest where I might obtain a replacement, not urgent as gravity assists in operation, but it should be be replaced for 'completeness'?…
As I live in Portugal local supply is not available, I have not contacted Bachmann nor the supplier - 'Rails of Sheffield' yet! but may have to if nothing else is forthcoming…
Kind Regards…

You could try Bachmann USA, lots of screws for securing trucks (bogies) to bodies. $0.30 each.
If this is a powered turret bogie have a look at some other service sheets, most screws are numbered.

I can confirm that Peter's Spares international postage rates to mainland Western Europe are indeed, rather high.. . . . The postage is usually a !ot less than Peter's Spares for overseas mail, although I recall they do have a minimum charge for spares . . . .

Bon courage,

At 6'4'', Bill is a tall chap, then again, when horizontal he is rather long and people often used to trip over him! . . . and so a nickname was born :)

Happy Christmas, Brian,
I have had a look at the bogie mounting screws on a 105 Class DMU (by Bachman) and was somewhat surprised to find that neither power car and non-power car have screws similar to the ones that I am missing. So I have measured up what I have and find 2 sizes! 2.05mm and 1.97mm, tried them in the unit and the 2.03mm is too big. Back to my 'spares' box and I found just one screw that fitted but the head was smaller so I took your advice and put a suitable washer on as well. SUCCESS!
Why I had not previously gone down this path I can't think, but have put it down to 'anno domini' kicking in!

I have a supply of self tapers from Walthers this use for these occasions, along with some 2-56 machine screws and a 2-56 tap for slightly bigger jobs.
