Train Preparation

Hi All.  Back in the day, when I was driving, train preparation was the most important thing when taking a train on the road. I have just realised that I don’t remember to do that with DCC fitted trains, especially the compressor. Would someone on YMRC please tell me how to go about it.  Best wishes Kevin 

Not sure about UK stuff Kevin - I stay well up north with my layout !!

I do have a US outline GP40 - bought for peanuts and used to push/pull my CMX track cleaner around.  It has a built-in start-up sequence on the sound decoder.  At the press of a single button on the controller, it starts with the driver opening and then closing the door, opening vent shutters, priming the engine, various "strange" pump sounds then the engine cranks into life.

It's impossible to go to the "dead" loco and do anything with it until this sequence has completed.  It's very clever.  ;-)

Hi Petermac.  Thank you for your reply. Could you tell me the name of your supplier (benefactor?) If. I was so lucky?Being a southern fan I chose a Class 33 to the same job, I am always up for a bargain and that does sound very good.  Best wishes Kevin
