eebuygum UK. Hornby's offerings look OK if that catcher is got rid of and a panel/door and catcher/net apparatus is fitted and the gangways sorted. Scratch build or detail kit. Might still have a kit. I'll check. The GWR mail TPO's did not have central gangways, they were on the side (same side, so one LH, one RH). Early BR Mk-1's were the same.This was to stop passengers from entering, maximize space inside and to allow several vans to be interconnected. Ignored by Hornby of course. Easy enough to change. Not sure whether Bachmann did this.

There are kits around.

I think the Hornby offerings from that era are pretty naff but that's a matter of opinion.

As usual a stoneage entity that only takes CCs over the phone - very insecure although I do it when I have to.  I have managed to convince one trader to use PayPal by offering to pay the fees, which aren't that much.

Edit:  Oh boy this is the first time I've checked the site since management changed.  What a mess.  There is a mention of coach sides in the "catalogue"  but there's no link.  If you really want to go through the pain of dealing with these people probably a phone call would be best.

Johns right - 247-D: Under new management - product range decimated. They used to carry the collector net kit.

Just remembered. Worsley Works does an etch for a GWR RPO mail van, diagram L21, built 1933 and in service until 1953 when they were transferred to the Midland Region (so Russell states) but in 7mm scale. Ask Allen Doherty nicely and he will do it in 4mm. Build it up or use the sides, ends and roof and bash a regular 57' coach. Probably as close to the real thing as you will get.

I couldn't see what 247 have.  I remember they had the LMS TPO coaches in their range at one time.  The artwork must still exist so it may be a matter of making the request.

Much easier to take a RTR coach (eg the Dapol 57' LMS coaches which are perfect donors) and add the TPO sides.  I've made several Comet underframes and can't seem to stop them going banana shaped.
