Having travelled on the Gresley teaks as a nipper, albeit not as old as this one, I remember them as being very warm and cosy (but then all coaches seemed to be in the days before central heating at home), but they rattled a bit.  Halcyon days indeed.

They really are "coaches" in the true sense of the word.  Never mind the grafitti Alan, can you imagine what that coachwork would cost - even if it was acceptable to use teak nowadays ……..?  

I can remember when i was a youngster most things were quality built.Nothing is nowadays.The price goes up and the quality comes down.Ce la vie.

Love these coaches, I even stayed in the one which was restored to use when it was a camping coach at Mundesley on Sea.

I doubt that the lightweight power units today would manange to lift more than 2 or 3 of them out of the platform and certainly not up the hill at KX!!
