New layout detail.

Hello all,

Please see the very amateur sketch of my train shed area, as you will see I hope !! I have completed the area from the small goods yard round to the Hillside industrial area. What I now wish to do is to have a Station with a good sized platform , possibly curved?. I then want to come out of the station area and branch off to a goods/loco/wagon yard area. I would welcome some advice on a layout that works for an area like this. I have added pics of the rest of the layout in the gallery area as I'm not sure how to attach them to this post
Look forward to your comments.
Cheers John

Hi John

Nice sketch.  :thumbs

Please use the Gallery, rather than attachments as they eat bandwidth and server disc space.

Hi John, If your having trouble putting images here there is a stickied thread on the front page " inserting images in your posts " have a read through that and it should get you up to speed, its also worth knowing that we mainly use Mozilla Firefox browser for posting as it seams to have the least issues with this site. you don't have to have it as your default browser if you normally use another, just say no to making it default as you install it and then just use it on this site if you like . If your still stuck after reading the thread shout and someone will help out

Cheers

Have you tried downloading and using the Anyrail track design software? It's free for up to 50 bits of track.
cheers

Have a look at some prototype photos of small yards and sheds too. That will start to give you an idea of what you could have and some preferred track arrangements. For example not having facing points when accessing a yard or shed and using trap points to protect passenger lines from loose goods wagons.
It's a fascinating subject and I'm sure you'll enjoy the research.

You could be right Pete, I think I tried it a few years ago and didn't progress very far, but it's free so I will try again.
