Submit your choice of names for 3 signal box cats

G`day Folks,

Some of you will already know that I`ve designed some backgrounds to fit to my lever frame boxes so that they resemble a signal box. It`s a full on build so I might as well take it all the way.????

Here`s a trial run

It was suggested by Bill ( Longchap ) initially, that I should incorporate a signal box cat in the design. Once the little feline was added it was further suggested that some sort of naming ritual for the cats should occur as well…….apparently there is a book dedicated to signal box cats.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GWR-Signal-Box-Cats-Liveries-and-Allocations-Algernon-Flitly-Smith-Paperback-/131383891668?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item1e971716d4

So here we are.!!!!

I have two designs which I will submit below with one PDF for a better view.

and also

Right!!!…..what we need is your suggestions for the names of three cats…..one for each signal box.

The names could use the GWR and it`s history as inspiration……for example, Bill has already suggested Issie as in Isambard Brunel. The layout name or names can be corrupted to create something as well……Great Chesterford Junction, Little Bardfield and Bamford……whatever…there are no limitations

So folks, I leave it open to your collective imaginations, whacky senses of humour or downright silly suggestions. Either way it`s not going to change the world so we won`t take it too seriously and I look forward to your inspired suggestions.

:cheers  Brian

Oh, all right then.

How about 'Chester' for one of them, as in Great Chesterford.

Yes that has merit Alan and very feline, however your excessive use of the Pussy word shows your mind must be elsewhere. Dig deeper mate!!!!…..we need some creativity here.!!!!

As Ed bet me to the name Chester, the Great Chesterford East cat could be named : 'Levers'. (to be stroked gently…)

Great Chesterford Yard cat : 'Smokey'.

Great Chesterford West (ginger) cat : 'Puddin'  (because he/she looks fat !)

Cheers, Gary.

Shame they called that Bear Paddington.

How about 'Box' after the tunnel or 'Seven-Foot' after the original gauge.

There is of course always Tiddles

'GJ' for George Jackson Churchward, 'Billie' for William Dean and the already suggested 'Issie' for IKB.

G`day Folks,

Well folks…..some thoughtful replies coming through now. I mean????……. I reckon Ed thought he would catch you guys sleeping and so he slipped in a quick one with Tom, Dick & Harry…..nice try mate….what a way to start????….Oh well he redeemed himself with Chester. This is quite obvious but it`s also quite appropriate. It lacks the depth I`m looking for but then again it has charm.

Then Alan….Oh yes Alan????…..we won`t drag out the dirty laundry again but Alan also redeemed himself with his second attempt…..Bodgit, Leggit & Scarper…….I lean towards Scarper at this point in time.

Gary jumped in with good advice as usual….Smokey, Puddin` & Levers ( to be stroked gently ) or pulled hard mate!!!!………are you and Alan popping Viagra pills or what?????

Now Ed lobs in again……yes folks he`s feeling the pressure and wants to give a good account of himself…..Box, Seven-Foot & Tiddles……now some creative thought has gone into that……but Tiddles??????……..keep trying mate……2 out of 3 ain`t bad!!!!!

Toto….:hmm…..what`s this one mate??…..itchy chin??….twitchy eyebrow???….S bend mouth????

Now Mick……fellas…..look what Mick has suggested…..this is what I`m talking about. GJ, Billie & Issie….especially GJ….this is multi layer…..this may require two questions to be asked if someone was queerying the origin of the name.

At the moment……I`m leaning towards Scarper, Seven-Foot and GJ

Thanks guys……keep plugging away…..you`re getting the hang of it.

:cheers  Brian

For those young (or should that be old) enough to remember them you could also try Pip, Squeak and Wilfred.

After much consideration and pondering ( yup I slept on it ) I took inspiration from the friendship between Toto and Gormo, you know Hands across the water and all that, and thought " what if Toto had sent three kittens across the great pond from his shed to start a new life in Gormo's signal boxes ? "  and thinking of the early experiences of those kittens under Toto's gentle protection the names became obvious to me ,so I put forward
