Installing this and getting it to do things

After a productive successful afternon wiring up the layout just the point motors to go now, which after some study is  understood and I am capable of programing these into mty Powercab via the Snapit point control unit I am fast approaching the next challenge which is installing and understanding programing a NCE mini panel.

Ultimatly what I am trying to achieve is some form of automation on my small end to end layout similar to a shuttle device sending the loco up one end stopping and standing then returning back so I can sit back and watch the trains

So I am looking for simple advice how to go about this and simple programing, any other switches etc any help much appretiated I think I am needing an idiots guide to get my head round how this device works.

Here is my layout

thank you for the link a great wealth of information there it would seem a reed switch and magnet is the way to go, I had something similar on a DC layout 30 years ago so ok with that aspect, the critical piece is getting the control info into the power cab configured to get the stopping distance right.

oh dear duff mini panel not working did the first stage program to test the panel LED get it to blink and nothing not a flicker checked and re checked and nothing so sending it back I think it talks to the Procab but according to the Autocontrols.org excellent web guides the LED should blink when the Powercab is plugged in again nothing not a flicker
