Hi all,

For those who model the Modern Scene, this link just came onto an Aussie site

New Freightliner PH37ACMi #70005 on the GE test track

I hope they look better in the flesh than the picture does! Now who will make the first model?

Regards

Trevor

Just been reading a bit about the new Class 70 'Predator' in Rail Express.  Looks a real beast but interesting - I'll be looking for the model when its on the market.  They reckon it will be arriving in the UK (not the model) by the end of this year and Freightliner will have a fleet of 30.

I'm going to restrain myself on the lorries vs kettles debate :brickwall:brickwall I love 'em all, well the one's I like anyway

With numbers from 70001 - 70030 I reckon if we give them matching "Brit" names one or two of the kettle fans might come around ......... :mutley

I know that GE are hoping to gain entry to the European market as GM have pretty much stitched it all up with the Class 66 so far.  I expect Freightliner have got a pretty good deal on this locos as GE will be keen to get them into service to start winning further orders.

The front end is the sign of things to come with the latest crash worthiness regulations. The ribbed front ends are anti-overide devices which are present on all modern trains, but with passenger trains they can be hidden behind a nose cone (which of course totally disintegrates in a collision and is only for aerodynamics)

Probably going to be a Marmite scenario - you will either love it or hate it!

Thought they were American - we'll (you'll ) be buying them in dollars next and driving on the opposite side of the tracks. !!!  Still, at least Myansome won't have to change his crossing barriers !!!!

:hiHiya Pete - built by GE in the good ol' US of A …  EEeeee..Hhaaaa!!  Wouldn't like to meet one of these coming down on my side of the track on a dark night:mrgreen:  Freightliner have a team of folks out there now on a familiarisation course so we should be ok.  Ain't it great doing our bit to boost US exports and get the world economy rolling again.

Hey Owen - I love LORRIES :lol::lol: great to see good design transferring across transportation sectors :thumbs I like the way you choke on a word you can't bear to utter and come up BL888Y.  It looks like a number plate and I'm tempted to put it on one of my artics as a tribute to you.

Peter Maybury, Freightliner Group CEO said his first sight of of the painted locomotives almost brought tears to his eyes!  I assumed it was happy emotion :doublethumb but Owen may have a different take :hmm

Bye ya'aall

Have a nice day

Absolutely NO WAY.:shock::shock::shock:

If they stick the name "John Milton" on that thing I'll go spare. Good job Perry isn't posting much at the moment or there would be blood.

It's always been about BRANDING mate - they just didn't call it that ;-)

Look at the fights there were about regional colours donkeys years ago and the fortune BR must have spend on the various logos and Intercity brands. :thud

Blimey - this has really got the steam coming out of the kettles :mutley:mutley:mutley:mutley

Hand on to your boiler pressure fellas - don't want no headless :chicken:chicken:chicken on here

And I thought the sheds were bad!  Best thing is load them on the ship then sink it. That has got to be the worst loco I have ever seen looks like two garden sheds with some timber decking in between. Maybe they should be painted bright orange with the letters B&Q on the side!

I'm quite into the modern scene but I would never buy a model of that.  It really is very ugly.

cheers

As Max said to me last weekend in response to my statement that "beauty is only skin deep", he came back with this " and ugly goes all the way to the bones" so I am not sure where this loco sits - between skin & bones !
If someone sent me one to evaluate, I would be most obliging to do so.
