In my defence, the radio in the garage isn't digital so no BBC radio 5 live and it hasn't got Long Wave either.

Ooops, just lost another wicket.

But I have stuck the platform down during the lunch break :mutley

Well! Went to the local model rail emporium in Grantham to get some more lichen to do a few more trees, when I went in he was showing someone the Hornby LNER J15 loco.
Needless to say I was well impressed, what a great model of a local loco on the North Norfolk railway so I bought one and an encoder.

and 2 video's !!

Hi Ron,

It's a cracker. Runs very smoothly. That first video shows a good chunk of your layout and I did not realise just how much you have done. I knew you were horsing on but wow. It really is looking good.

:hmm

A couple of photo's showing either side of the gap again would be good to get a better idea of space and what's in the immediate surroundings.

I know you have the bridge and the signal box at the right hand side but I'm trying to get a picture of whats at the other side again.

The corners are usually the ideal place for some kind of feature.

Got my 2.5 mm cable this afternoon so hitting the shed after tea to run it in for the second half of my track BUS and get the rest of the cables hooked up. I'll still get plenty done tonight.I'm warming to the idea now.

Cheers for now.

Toto.

You could always have a second bridge running off at the opposite angle / direction and a hillside / cutting  in between the two in the corner. One bridge for motor vehicles and one with a double track on it.

It's quite a tight corner. Your fiddle yard is to the right so I don't know if you are trying to separate it scenically or not.

I'm sure other ideas will come in. Somebody wake Gary up:mutley

Congratulations on the new loco Ron………I had read a number of very favourable reviews and having seen your videos they would seem to be absolutely correct ……..a stunning model in every respect.

Not sure which of your two videos I liked the most. I thought the opening shot of the shed scene was superb but in the first video I really like the way you followed the train and panned round the corner leading on to the back scene :thumbs

I think the world is your oyster……..its a real green field site. As Tom says its a perfect place for a cameo scene. Brewery/Factory or Village and Pub and or Garage…….my bid would be some collection of card buildings Metcalfe or Scalescene

The only caveat would be to try and ensure it fits naturally into the scenery/backscene on either side rather than something that was plonked there to fill the space. One useful question to ask is how do these buildings or whatever relate to the railway……where they built before or after the line

Hope this helps…..although knowing the speed you work it probably already done by now!

Regards

It wouldn't be a bad thing to visit Grandby. Loads of ideas there which you don't need to directly copy but I think that you will get a better idea as how to " blend " from one scene to another as John has managed this seamlessly on many occasions.

It's one of the most difficult parts of the scenics I think but can make or break a scene. The existing bridge looks fantastic in its own right but if you get the area round about it right it will bring another dimension to a great scratch build and also possibly enhance its sense of purpose. Right now without being critical it stands alone ( brilliantly but alone ).

You have the fiddle yard at one side and the signal box at the other side your fiddle yard may suggest something slightly urban and when you pass the bridge a more rural picture emerges. This will be interesting to see how this unfolds. If I think of anything ………. I'll be back. No worries though as it all looks great so far.

Thinking cap so for the right feature.

Cheers

I assume the piece of card or board is where you will have a scenic break  before the fiddle yard, I would be inclined to either take it across from the angle of the boards to the corner or rotate it anticlockwise to parallel with the front wall or rotate clockwise parallel with the side wall, may even work butted up to the bridge, then you won't need to worry about filling the corner with scenics.

In another scenario you could run a couple of short sidings into the corner to stable locos on with easy access to/from the fiddle yard. Taking that a bit further maybe a turntable and shed, although space looks a bit tight for a T/T and shed.

Cheers MIKE
