…39;m from Shirebrook. I currently have a basic layout in the loft approximately 12ft around the outside with the baseboard about 2ft wide.Whilst it's mainly myself doing it my 2 kids will be planning and taking part too. I have a circuit currently set up so trains can go round.
It's DCC with 2 circuits one controlled by Hornby Select and one by the basic Bachmann controller.
I'll have a look round the forums and see where I can post some…

…ay (British, of course) in a spare room.I am a member of the BRMA (British Railway Modellers of Australia) and our area group meets once a month.
I am also a member of MERG and we have quite a small but active local “cell,†again meeting every month.
I am very new to electronics and am struggling quite a bit at the moment. It’s a very steep learning curve for me.
I find that the instructions that come with t…

Starting all over again
…, and how you are in the midst of people who do not play trains, they model them. I am this time going to ensure that it is more fun. In the interim I have been playing war games, where I have been constantly told that I am a railway modular as I like to have realistic scenery, and not representative stuff, but what I have learnt is that if its fun its not what I want to do. So I am just starting agian. I have got the books out again and have stared researching.I am very predictable in …

A New Start
…d at the moment as the room it is going in has only just been made by splitting the garage in two. Unfortunately as it's a single garage the resultant 'railway room' is only 9'2" long and 8'2"" wide. There are other constraints such as it will have to house storage and as the boiler is in there (wall mounted) access needs to be maintained for servicing it.The last two weeks have seen the construction of the partition wall and the skeletons of t…

First post from new member. Grew up in village serviced by the Fenchurch Street Line during the late 1930 to 1940's. My developing 00 scale, 18ft, end to end layout is roughly centred on that era. Judging the level of discussion and photos within the forum I doubt I will contribute much but hope to learn a great deal.I am about to 'blacken' some Dingham couplings with Blackwood Casey Brass Black and would appreciate any advice. Thanks in advance RobB

Hello from m Lancashire
…rting to get back into the swing of it by building a stud partition wall in the garage to enable construction of a new railway. So lots to do, the wall to finish then start on the baseboards, so you'lll have to bear with me as work often gets in the way!It will be OO and DCC controlled and will include steam and diesel so will be based on being a preserved railway which will hopefully give me more licence for what is run on it.
So as I get going I'll start a layo…

Hello from Clydebank
Hi,Just getting back into the hobby after quite a long absence, the usual excuse "teenager discovers drink and girls". However that was quite a while ago, but my wiife made the mistake of buying me a train set as a christmas present.
I'm planning a 00 Inglenook style layout, based on Scotstoun East goods yard in Glasgow, circa late 50's.
It's close to where I live, a lot of the earthworks still exist.
All the best Matt
