As Toto said Alan - neat and tidy, well marked for future reference and I also like the "cable tidy" to gather them all together.

If you want to see how neat one can get, have a look here:

Can't quite see from the picture what the switches are Alan, SPDT or DPDT

Also not sure which wires are to which terminal, is the black the common return (-ve).

Where do the blue and orange go ?

ed, the switches are spdt center off. the orange wire goes to the bottom terminal and blue goes to the top as you look at the picture and both wires go to a D socket at the back of the box and eventually to point motors around the layout the black wire is the common.

Hi Alan

Sounds OK to me, are the switches center sprung and what point motors are you using.

Hi Alan,

I am assuming that the black wire is the common ( live ) linked between the switches. As you say the orange and blue are your switch wires which fire your point motors one way or the other.

The -ve from your supply will go straight to the Peco point motor along with the switch wires from your switches ( orange and blue ).

Looks good to me .

Cheers toto.

Barneybuffer,Thank you for your reply.  This is the first time that I have had to do the electrics from scratch myself as I could always call upon a friend for advice or he would come over and do it for me.I am pleased with the results so far but proof will be when I plug the mains on and see the first train run and the first point change but that for the very near future. As my friend would say "when the smoke clears it should be ok"

to all my fellow railway modelers,
just to let you know at approximately 1345 I plugged in my control box and test fired the station loop point motor and every thing worked as I hoped. No smoke sparks or any other nasty thing happened, just the heavy click of an old point motor doing its job. :lol:HAPPY CHAPPY.
Happy Modelling

Phew, that's a big relief Alan - and far more successful than I was when wiring Tortoise motors for DCC operation via a decoder…………:cry:

It's a great feeling isn't it. :thumbs:thumbs

petermac,
I had enough fun trying to remember what paul showed me ages ago using DC so DCC is in another world for me.I was chuffed to bits when the point worked now for the rest of the layout.

And well done Alan,
Good to hear that you persevered and go to the "it works" stage.

In the process of getting my control panel sorted so your thread is another to provide inspiration and direction.

Excellent stuff! I am glad it works. And neat to boot! How did you find wiring the open case transformer? I have always liked the idea of one, but have been too scared to try it.
