Why stay in when there is so much to see, especially if the weather is favourable. Called in to the railway on my way back to the bus stop for a snack and a cuppa. One of the things on show was a fantastic Snowy Owl and a selection of less exotic owls. made the day worthwhile, especially as I managed to capture a Dipper on the river. A difficult bird to see.

That's some collection of photo's you have there. The owl is stunning. I've not been through all of them yet but will be returning to them soon.

You are right about getting out. I like the odd away day myself and I'm due one. Birds of prey hold a special interest for me along with squirrels of all things.

I have been meaning to have another bash at macro photography again and use it as an excuse to try out my ring flash. Watch this space.

Nothing wrong with Squirrels Toto. I love them too, their acrobatics amaze me. I've also got a thing on seagulls too, a very gracious bird as it rides the thermals.

We went on the Plym valley a few weeks back,  lovely little ride and the carriages were in top condition

I had an issue with a seagull some time ago when visiting the coast for the day at Anstruther.

I had a great say and was just out of the chip shop with a mince pie supper. A thing of beauty it was. I sat down on a bench and opened it up, ate a few chips then wham ………… A seagull shat right in the middle of the mince pie.

Well as you could imagine …….. I wasn't amused …………. I had to throw half it away.

It is a true story but I threw it all away …………. Just in case you thought I'd had a good judgement failure.

I used to like seagulls. Especially when I was at school. I think it was the white plumage. However they do come inland mire now to feed and they can be very threatening. I have been swooped at a couple of times outside my old local pub and chip shop.

However they make great photographic subjects as you say so keep em coming.

Living on the coast we get thousands of them normally they are no trouble but I have been dived at a few times when they have young. Parental instincts I suppose. Pity some humans don't treat their kids in the same way. For a matter of interest here in Plymouth we have Herring Gulls, Greater Black-backed, Lesser Black-backed, Black-headed Gulls, Mediterranean Gulls and occasionally Glaucous Gulls and Icelandic Gulls. Plenty to go at when it comes to photographing them, but the trouble comes in working out what one it is. They look so similar.

Gulls of the Herring variety are vermin here in Cornwall and the bl"""y things are a protected species.

Not steam, but still Devon and Cornwall, I hear FGW are having problems with 57's, and that the Pad>Pz sleeper is suffering as a result, recent bit of overkill resulted in the following consist, 2 HST power cars and 2 57s to cope with 8 coaches, the HST power cars came off at Plymouth and the 57s made it to Pz.

Belt and braces, plus hands in pockets?

BRING BACK STEAM!!!!!!!!!

The HST's might well of been running to Laira and tagged onto the Sleeper to save a slot in the running diagrams. 2 x 57's should be able to take 8 up Hemerdon with no trouble.

Just realised that it has been a while since I last posted any pics on here. Over the next week or so i will rectify that, after all I have got nearly 5 years worth to go through. Will start tomorrow.
