The platform fencing - part of - in situ

so after asking around re the use of corrugated iron, while it was not used too much in the UK, my local station had it for years so I thought I will give it a try

each sheet glued on individually

now finshed the iron work & back on the platform

now to paint it a red-brown & thinking off doing a couple of sheets in a aluminium finish to represent new sheets & I will have to find a couple of workmen installing them.

MNWR, Sol.  It reminds me of the Gawler Railway Station.  ;-)

Maybe British Rail ought to have looked at that Sol - it looks good. :thumbs

The odd fleck of rust here and there will enhance it no end.

I agree, I think a bit of rust adds reality to models. After all, what doesn't tarnish in life?

However, if you do put rust on you might want to reconsider adding workman finishing up the installation, unless of course, they are using very poor quality corrugated iron.   :mutley

OK, first sprayed Mission Brown then a matt varnish coat. In time, dented & replaced panels.

The CEO of the Private Railway - the D&S ,is reasonaably happy with the fencing & cost.

It stops people falling off the wrong side or getting impaled on fencing spikes exclam:

Now to finish off a lot more fencing.

The CEO is right to be chuffed; I wasn't too happy with the concept at the outset but it looks just right now. Nicely done.

I am thinking John that it maybe a bit dark so I am going to paint a couple of panels a lighter shade of brown to see how it looks.

Well, I did some panels in a lighter shade of brown but still a tad dark then I saw the  and with some of the station building done in cream, why not try the fence quest:

left hand angled set in light brown, the middle in the original & the right hand side in cream - needs another coat or two but food/paint  for thought exclam:

Still experimenting with lighter colours & one I did on the basic white card.

The white card & the LHS are all done using Humbrol Matt #29 Dark Earth. RHS Humbrol Matt #62 Leather with the first light red-brown  Tamiya XF-64 in the middle.

I think for ease of painting, spray the rear & posts & rails the Mission Brown but use Dark Earth on the front/passenger side.

Won't take long to re-paint the front.

Sol,I may have missed it, but what did you use for your corrogated iron sheets.

I always use the local SA product made by BGB. HO scale corrogated card.

 IMHO it is the best.

Ron, I use for my GWR fence colurs an acrylic called 'Bambi' a lightish brown and to warm it up a touch of darkish red.

You might like to try both acrylics and this mix. Your brown does look a little intense.

The mix might vary, but then in real life colours fade etc in different ways for different reasons.
