Another station on the Devan and Summersett

I much prefer Slater's over Will's, the latter is too thick for me to cut and work with and the embossing far too exaggerated. Slater's cuts readily and goes on well to card.The results speak for themselves as any of my photos demonstrate.

Nor have I any complaints about their products or service.

Tend to agree with you John…………..DD is referring to their habit of cutting or embossing askew…………..I normally have to trim to get the edges square to the embossing.

It seems less and less retailers are stocking the range…….I tend to use Gaugemaster for all the bits and pieces and they seem to have dropped it.

Squires still include it in their catalogue - that's usually where I get it, John.
In the UK we get post free over £15 order value.
They will post overseas but obviously not free.
However, presumably there are levy savings.

If you don't have a catalogue, I'm sure one of us will help you with it.
(I'm away now until 20th October).

Just for interest, the goods shed itself was made from balsa, covered with Scalescenes papers while the platform is card as depicted.

DD, you are too scathing and JohnD, I ordered direct with Slaters via their website. I got what I wanted quickly and I had no problems.

That the sheets are not cut square is of no matter, I always trim them to the line of the stonework etc and to fit the shell to which they are affixed. I'm in the process of some new construction and I'll post some pictures on my Hintock thread soon.

Behind one side of the platform, the road has been extended and there is a pathway to be added.



At the end, there is a ramp, steps to come. Ramp is card & balsa & Scalescenes papers with Evergreen sytrene made into post & rail.




The platform fencing will be post & rail & corrugated iron.

I am absolutely enjoying fiddling around like this though doing small things, it does not seem like getting much done as compared to tracklaying or throwing plaster aroundexclam:

Totally agree Ron……..Today I found an excuse to leave the ballasting , electric problem solving, RR&Co schedule problem solving and spent a happy and totally relaxing hour listening to jazz and starting on my creamery (in reality a very very low priority!) 

Yes, I also had a quiet day attending to small things as for the last few weeks (or that's what it seems) performing major tasks and it was a very pleasant change. Not that the results of the earlier labour show all the effort. Photos in due course.

And Ron, I like the way Charde is coming on-there is a lot to be said for attractive scenery. It enhances in a very big way.

In the words of Doug ,  " Cornflako" card  cut to shape with dark lines representing the concrete divisions to prevent cracking.

Then painted over with a light grey acrylic & the divisions grooved again.



The top left corner was not painted as it is due to be cutout to fit around the ramp ( As I decided to put a path in after I built the ramp).

This is how it looks in position. Lot more required.



The path will extend around the platform to the far end  with another ramp & steps , but I will get this end done first.

The posts are 1.5 x 2.5mm & the rails are 1 x 1.5mm - Evergreen Styrene.


 

Edit,  the posts are evenly spaced at 39mm =- just the camera angle that makes them look out of  kilter.
