I think size is relative to where you put the signs - AFAIK there was no 'standard' size. As long as they look reasonable compared to a known dimension (eg a bloke at 6') they should be ok.

Mr Digby said he had scaled them to the bricks he showed them on, from details of the originals, if that helps. I know from personal observation that some of them were really quite small.
