H Class 371

Thanks, guys.  This is my main interest, so I had better have gained some expertise.  Mike, my modus operandi is to glaze the windows and then glue tracing paper on the inside, hopefully giving some vague outlines of what is within.  The JEM kits, being tram size, don't leave much room after the decoder, et al., has been put in, well, that's my excuse for being too lazy to do it.

Hokay, we have arriven at the destination!  Final tweaking of the sounds and off we go with the dreaded camcorder.

I made this video to pay homage to the creator of the kits.  He may be able to use the movie to better promote his cottage business.

Here we go, here we go; here we go.  Enjoy.  (I hope you like up and back, and up and back . . . )

I'm sure it won't be a 'flash in the pan……'

Thanks guys.  I stole the flash technology from Dave Bentley.  It works really well.  The kit comes with poles, but when I looked at them, I thought it would be too hard.  It's the first kit I've done.  I think I'm over it.

I'm just catching up after being away for a couple of weeks and that looks fantastic Max. :thumbs:thumbs:thumbs

All the effects are just like the real thing particularly the "whine" of the motor and the flashing overhead - very well done :pathead:pathead:pathead.  Have you thought of turning professional.:roll::roll::roll::cheers

Thanks, Peter.  I've thought about it for when I retire.  I guess it would be like owning a village pub - a nice dream . . .  :hmm

Hi Max.  It looks like you were having fun, way back in 2009, long before I returned to Model Railways. There is something that I have missed since I had to give up driving 12” to the foot trains, that is lighting up the surroundings when motoring over a third rail gap. But, I have a plan to put the “Reed switch “ on the track and the magnet under the bogie. Just one problem, there doesn’t seem to be enough clearance. Can you please advise me. Best wishes Kevin

Hey Kevin,

Didn't want you going off disheartened so had a dig around the Database, the below link is to a layout that seems to have made good use of Reed Switches in a similar way - don't know if it'll be much help but it might be an interesting read if nothing else. The user was active last year, not sure if they still lurk but you could always try a PM and see if you get a response.

BURROWBY UNDERHILL, a resurected Rabbit warren layout in 009

(Disclaimer: I know nothing about modelling, i literally searched for Reed Switches and found a relatively recent thread that mentions them, and seems to use them under track in the way you mentioned - gauges, styles, involvement of magical pixies are beyond my understanding of relevancy)
