yes its a loco store, Blackcloud, myself and a couple of others are putting together some On30 modules for an exhibition. As between us we have a few nice Bachmann locos it seemed a sheme to hide them in a fiddle yard. So we are having a turntable/shed/roundhouse at each end of the modular layout beyond the fiddle yards. So trains wil leave the layout proper into the fiddle yard but unused locos will pass through and be stored on shed at the end till next duty.

It also reduces the amount of manual handling each loco will be subjected to.

At home in my shed the module just gives me a bit of fun and a reason for light loco moves.

The left end of the module will be an engine shed or rather I should say the front face/doors of it.

Some great progress there John. Like the bus idea for the track supply that's something I would do!! Motorizing now there's a challenge. How about a motor and gearbox assembly from a hornby pacer? Replace one of the wheels on the turntable with a modified pacer drive unit, fit a decoder with the power fed from the track on the turntable deck and then sit back and control it from the elite. ;-)

Did think of that Dave but it would stall every time it passed over the insulated cross over breaks.

Must say Im not so sure about the narrow gauge section, seems a bit lonely

A bit more progress

I assume that is on30 track you are using as it does not look like code 100?

Yes it is peco narrow gauge track, SL500, same spacing as OO code100 but the sleepers are longer, more spaced, and generally chunkier.

It matches up to code 100 but the top of the rail from baseboard height is ever so slightly higher due to the chunkier sleepers.

This evening a few jobs have got done.
Ballasting the shed end

Cleaned up the ballast at the previously done end and gave it light spray of sleeper grime to make the track section stand out a little.

The turntable was weather last night.
The big job was cutting and sticking the wood pile and some grass

yes I used basket linner on Mossley Terrace for the first time and decided it looked better than "flat" flock grass, especially in the bigger scale.

Lovely stuff John :thumbs:thumbs

A great description of the turntable and a truly superb end result !!  One thing I didn't "get" :???::???:  You only seem to have 1 pick-up for the track on the table.  Have I missed it - where do you pick up for the other rail ?

I see yet more "Memebers Choice" possibilities - my head is spinning !!!:hmm:hmm

Thanks Petermac. There is a track pickup on each end of the turntable bridge. The pickup at one end feeds one rail, the pickup at the other end feeds the other rail. The circular guide rail has an insulated split at the very front and very back. So when the bridge goes through 180 degrees the pickups swap which half of the circular rail they feed off.
