My laptop is a fast model with i7 processor but when I click on any forum subject it takes about 20 to 30 seconds for a response. Any ideas?

I'm seeing some longer load times as well - caching was turned off as it seemed to be impacting the links and was also preventing the Members online today from updating. I could turn it back on but the members online list will stop working.

Also bear in mind this isn't running on a dedicated server so that may impact performance at times.

Loading times are quite long.

Also are the counters working? The 'Wombat Creek' pages are sitting on the same number for months. Perhaps nobody checks them out

I do mate.  Don't stress!

I was getting frustrated at the refresh speed when changing pages/topics on my iPad. It was really slow, considerably slower than the old software.

particularly image heavy topics, which is what we are all wanting really.

I put it down to just needing time for breakage to finish his tweaking and testing.

I'll go and read Rick's latest posts and report back if I notice a significant speed change.

Keep going breakage and team, your blood is worth bottling for keeping this treasure trove and meeting place alive.

cheers

22 secs for the screen to refresh after taping post reply. Is that normal?

The refresh rate is better than it used to be on my iPad but it still feels clunky and slow.

I’ll try the forum on my Laptop tomorrow.

I haven't measured it but 22 secs sounds about right,it should be instant.

About 17-18 seconds for me to open a thread now on the same PC I have always used.

even posting a reply takes at least 15 seconds

Also worth mentioning it wasn't this slow when we first changed over.

You could ask Jay breakage to turn caching back on Alan spurno just as a test, and put up with 'Members Online Today' not updating.

Just a thought

I'm sure Jay will try that Ed. At least I know it's not just me.

Hi Brian.

As I understand it, the website security certificate from the old YMRC site is now on this new site, and therefore there  isn't one on the old site anymore.

Basically the old site is now an unsecure site which is why you get the warning message, but it should be safe enough to browse it if you want to.

Accessing the Home page & the various forum areas is quick but then on, very very slow with threads & posts. Almost enough time to make a cuppa.

Did mention trying turning caching back on over a week ago Sol, but nothing's happened.

Jay doesn't seem to be responding to mentions breakage in these emails, so I suspect he's very busy or on holiday.

Basically, we haven't got any admin support at the moment to fix these niggling little problems  :'(

We need to get this sorted ASAP because to my mind the forum is becoming unusable which may be contributing to the lack of members posting.

Jay hasn't been on for 12 days and Matt 14 days. I do hope they're ok.
I'm helpless to do anything now as I have no control over the forum.
