Okay, so that test took forever to post. Checking the server stats while it did nothing is untoward - plenty of memory available and nothing is red lining.

I'll try to do some digging into what the network traffic is doing in case there's another reason but right now it's all a bit of a mystery I'm afraid.

Have you had a chance to look into this problem yet Breaker ?

I'd guess it could be putting some people off posting - certainly I think before posting if I'm in any kind of a hurry ……….

(33 seconds for that one !!)

Hi Peter,

I'm fairly certain it's only the sender who sees a delay – everyone else gets the post straight away.

If you are in a hurry, just switch off – the post will not be lost.

cheers,

Martin.

Thanks for your reply Martin.

Yes, I'm aware the delay is in posting only and even then, not if you add an edit.

My concern is that, if I reply to a post and want to move on to another one, do I not have to wait until my post is live ?  It says "please wait while your post is loaded" - or words to that effect.

Are you suggesting I should have 2 windows open on YMR and alternate whilst replies load up or, if I close the page, my reply will continue to upload ?

Hi Peter,

Yes. Years ago I put the "please wait" message in so that you could see that your click on the Send button has been recognised. Before that, if nothing happened, folks used to keep clicking it, posting multiple copies.

Once you get that, just switch to any other page (or web site) or switch off and catch a bus, or whatever. The post won't be lost.

cheers,

Martin.

I know Jay has been checking server side and all seams good there, nothing obvious cropping up. He was going to try and run some more tests once worktime allows. He was going to investigate a slow release of the handshake between server and browser I think ( or summat like that ):mutley
Thanks for taking a look Martin, your help greatly appreciated. You probably have the most experience with this software !

I did suggest switching it off and on again, He told me to go play trains and leave it to the big boys  :mutley :mutley :mutley

My suggestion is switching it off and NOT on again.  :)

I have failed to find a proper fix. It needs someone with server experience at the hosting provider. Above my pay grade.

However, I have kludged a fix which will make any IT professional weep:
• After clicking the Send button, it will be replaced with a Return link.
If you click that link, the post will appear immediately.
Working in Firefox. Please try it in other browsers.

cheers,

Martin.
