Careful Peter - there are enough mischievous members that could be tempted to make you the winner for real - a bit like the research ship that was almost called Boaty MacBoatface!! Not that I was tempted, you understand….TeaselBay wrote:Can this one win? ->

In the interests of Data Protection, I'd have to decline having a photograph of my ample girth made public ………………fortunately, my flowing locks don't show up very well …….. :Red Card

You've gone and done it now Sol! I could easily fill this thread with 100 examples of amazing scenes of Penhayle!Penhayle Bay by Rick / Gwiwer 2017

This is my nomination from the late, great Alan Downes. As it's taken me a week to put a kit together I'm in awe of how he could turn out detailed dioramas of such quality at such speed.
Sorry Peter you can't compete with this.
All stressed out, got addled brains?

This month, there isn't a train in sight but Phil's Pen-y-Bryn is truly stunning - it's such a pity most of the early photographs went astray either through the Photobucket fiasco or the major crash we suffered on here.
This is my selection for November:

I was going to nominate Phil ….Pen Y Bryn is such a stunning layout and its ages since he was featured….I could spend my life trying to decide which of the fabulous photos to choose for me nomination each month.

I am delighted to cast my vote for this photo. Its one of my favourite shots and the post describing how he went about filling a tiny bit of dead space are well worth reading.
I do hope that you wont feel obliged to be totally impartial and be inhibited in any way from choosing your own nomination Peter!
Carpe diem.

This was one of those layouts that scared me, such is its quality, and yet there is something there for everyone, whatever level of modelling, to learn from. There are loads of photos that I could pick, but Peter's choice hit a resonance with me…. as simple and as honest as you could wish for, but skilful and time eating to produce. So my vote also goes to….

This month, there have been 170 views but only 4 photographs have been nominated ……………… :hmm
I wonder if we should just set up a "selection committee" instead and select the monthly photo "internally"……….

After all, if you are stuck indoors, there's only so much additional modelling time everybody wants.
Instead of making this month specific, why not just have nominations for Picture of the Month on this thread.
That way, members can add pictures as they come across them and then whoever is going to choose which picture to use just has to look at what's not been used already or been added.
Another one from me, Crackington Quay.

The idea was that members nominate a picture, just as you've suggested, but then vote on those nominated. We'd anticipated member participation in both selection and voting but we're not seeing that. In the past, Alan chose the picture and that was that.
If that's what members want, then that's absolutely fine but we'd tried to create something a little "different" in these very strange times we find ourselves. Maybe it will develop in time or maybe we're just barking up the wrong tree ……………………..
Forgot to say - thanks for your nomination. :thumbs

I wouldnt worry……I think you are doing a great job (well I would say that wouldnt I? ) Its good to be reminded of some of the excellent layouts that have graced these pages…….looking at this months nominations is a real pleasure.
Although ostensibly we have over 500 member …….the reality is that each week the same 30 - 35 members look in. Of that I doubt if more than half post regularly……..so I guess an initial target might be to aim for a minimum of 15 votes/nominations………after only two months we are not too far away from that.
I do agree it would be encouraging if every regular poster could take a few minutes once each month to at least vote or comment.

I'm afraid that I have been a non-voter mainly because I happen to like the vast majority of the layouts featured here!
I am happy, subject of course to Alan being prepared to take the responsibility, of having a picture chosen for me to enjoy each month. That does allow for a more obscure layout to be featured - perhaps something that the members have overlooked??
